Who Am I?

Who Am I?

pinktree

I Am Not My Past.

I am not my mistakes.

I am not my addiction.

I am not my flaws.

I am not my pain.

I am not someone’s accident.

I am loved by God and nothing can separate me from this Love.

I am the object of His Grace and Mercy.

I am the one He sent His Beloved Son for.

I am the one who Christ laid down His Life for.

The one He shed His Righteous Blood for.

The one who He fought for, died and rose for.

I am the Righteousness of God in Christ.

I didn’t earn this Righteousness; it was a Gift from God.

A Gift given not because I loved Him so much but because He loves me that much!

While I was in sin, while I was indulging in my filth and rebellion, He stretched His arms out wide on that wooden cross and He Loved Me…Perfectly.

He took All of my sins, my shame, my sickness and my punishment and He nailed it to the cross.

Christ took my death and gave me His Abundant Life.

He took my place and gave me His Grace.

I am a child of God, the Righteousness of God in Christ.

I Am In Christ.

No longer defeated by life or living in fear of death.

I am a new creature in Christ, the old me is dead and gone.

I am a new person, a conqueror and an heir to the throne of Grace.

I am an Instrument of Righteousness.

No longer an instrument that brought hurt and pain to those I claim to love.

That one who blew up everything it touched and left a dark trail of destruction, gut wrenching heartbreak and deadly wounds behind.

I Am God’s Instrument.

A vessel that helps, heals, encourages and brings hope to all whom God puts in my path.

As Christ is so am I on this earth. Whole, Healed…Victorious.

I am a Messenger of Grace and Truth, seated at the right hand of the Father.

In Christ I can do all things through Him who strengthens, empowers and equips me.

I am a child of Light, no longer a slave to ignorance and darkness.

In me is Life, Liberty and the saving power of Christ.

I Am Not Influenced by this World, I Am The Yeast In This world…I influence it!

I Am A Gift to this world, chosen for this particular place and this particular time to fulfill a purpose that God placed in me at the beginning of time.

A Purpose that will Change and Inspire this Generation.

I am Saved.

Justified.

At Peace with God.

I am Forgiven.

I am Intimately Loved and Passionately Pursued by Him.

I’m worth fighting for and dying for.

I Am Who God Says I Am.

I… Am… HIS!

Hope For the Future Prayer

Hope For the Future Prayer

hope is...May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. ~Romans 15:13

Here’s the thing about Hope, it is the key ingredient of the substance that produces our faith; its our confidence in the unseen.

Hope is what saved us (Romans 8:24). Hope fought for us and laid its life down for us. Hope renews and strengthens us (Isaiah 40:31). Hope takes us to places we can only dream of. Hope never fails and will never put you to shame (Romans 5:5).

Did you know that our hope pleases God, He delights in those who put their hope in His unfailing love (Psalm 147:11).

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declared the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” –Jeremiah 29:11

This scripture was the seed of hope that was planted in my life and took root in my heart. It grows and blossoms everyday bearing fruits of joy, peace and love even in the midst of a storm. The funny thing is I didn’t seek this promise out, it came to me and it continues to find its way back to me in the most interesting ways especially during the hard times. There is a second part to this promise that is often overlooked. In it God says,

“You will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. I will be found by you, declared the Lord.” Jeremiah 29:12-14. Not only does God promise you a life and a  future you can look forward to He promises to be with you every step of the way. To never leave or forsake you. God is with you.

God’s promise is everything to me. It’s my lifeboat and my anchor. It’s God’s life-breathed word, His gentle embrace; it’s His perfect love for me. Lately it’s been my declaration prayer. This is what I’d like to share with you today, this is my Hope for the Future Prayer:

I know that God has a plan for me, Its not to harm me

But to help me grow and succeed in every area of my life.

Whenever doubt arises, I can call on Him. He will show me the path, He will show me His way.

God is faithful and true. God is a Promise Keeper. I’m not in this alone for He is with me.

I’m excited about His hopes and plans for me.

God’s plan gives me hope for the future.

Today, I take another step toward that future.

Naked and Unashamed

In the beginning God the Creator of all creation planted a garden called Eden which He placed Man to live in. Picture a vast land lush and green, filled with fruit bearing trees and colorful vegetation, this was the farmer’s market of all farmers’ markets. Fresh water rivers glistening like a sparkling jewel across the land. There must have been so much to see and explore in a land filled with gold, onyx and aromatic resin. Every day must have felt like a safari with every animal ever created living in the same land. With the command of the Father to both Man and Animal to eat of the vegetation only, along with the dominion over the earth and all that dwell on it given to Man, that means there were no predators or prey… just God’s peace.

God placed Man in a finished work, a successful, established and thriving garden and He gave Man the CEO position to manage this work.  On top of that God told Adam and Eve that they were free to eat of any tree except for one. With all of Creation eating the same thing I would imagine that God’s garden would have an endless supply of food.

Scripture says this about Adam and Eve, Adam and his wife were both naked, and they felt no shame.-Gen 2:25 NIV Now most of us, not all, would have a problem with walking around naked. I would definitely feel like “something” was missing in my life (lol!). This is a beautiful illustration of the Believer in Christ and what being a child of God looks like. Adam and Eve were in the presence of God, naked and unashamed, lacking nothing in the abundance of God.

Every time you turn to God in prayer it’s like being transported back to the Garden of Eden. Every time you open up your heart to Him you are stripping yourself of your own self-efforts and self-righteousness and allowing yourself to be clothed in Him, dependent on Him, provided for by Him, relying on His efforts and not your own to finish what HE started in you, to fulfill the vision and purpose for your life.

Your New Wardrobe

“For those God foreknew (that’s you!) He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son.”

“And those He predestined, He also called, those He called, He also justified; those He justified, He also glorified.”-Rom 8:29 & 30

If you have a need or a great burden, God has you covered, if you need healing you are clothed in the Spirit of God that will quicken that mortal body of yours.  Because you’ve turned to God, confessed His Son and trusted Him with the contents of your heart, you are clothed in perfection, the image of His Son, adorned in His calling, beautifully dressed in His justification and glory. Free to live in His abundance, equipped to accomplish all things through Christ, living off of His Resume and not yours. You are loved and positioned for greatness. You are the best dressed… Naked and Unashamed.

 A Prayer for Today

Open your heart to God today, give Him the things you’re afraid to come to Him with, share with Him the YOU behind the mask, the “bare-naked” YOU. There is no shame or condemnation in God’s presence just an abundance of Love and Grace. In Jesus name. Amen.

Just Let God

FreedomLet go and let God. I’m sure you’ve heard the phrase. For years I lived with the pain and old ghost of my past and then one day someone close to me told me to let go and let God. I thought to myself okay, sounds simple enough. I then went from one struggle to the next as I battled with letting go. One day I cried out to the Lord in prayer and asked Him, “Lord how do I let go?” He said, “You have to Let God.”

God revealed to me through His word that, “the battle is not yours, but God’s.” (2 Ch 20:15) and if you let Him, He will heal your broken heart (Psalm 147:3). He’ll give you, “the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair.”(Isaiah 61:3)

If you let God He will help you let go. God will take you to a place above and beyond your past, your pain, your addictions and struggles and He will bring you to a place of happiness, love, peace and His abundance.

I then asked God, “Why, why would you do all of this for me?” He said, “Because of love.” “For God so loved the world (meaning You) that He (willingly) gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes (hopes and trust) in Him shall not perish (remain broken and hurting) but have eternal life (the very heart and best of God). –John 3:16

So how do I let God? You just have to turn to Him in prayer, give all of your dreams, your doubts, your hurt and pain  to Him through prayer.  Talk to Him and let God be God in your life… today and everyday. Be blessed God’s beloved.

Feeling Weary?

“My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” (2 Corinthians 11:9)

Feeling Weary? Jesus Christ, the Word of God made flesh (John 1:14) says, “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you (the battle is not yours, it’s the Lord’s) and learn from Me, for I am gently and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy (His work is finished) and My burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30 NKJV.

Do you know why there is rest in Him, well according to Isaiah 40:28-29 and 31, “The Creator of the ends of the earth, neither faints nor is weary.” The word goes on to say that, “He gives power to the weak, and to those who have no might He increases strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.”

Believers if you find yourself feeling weary cease from your works and effort and rest in Christ’s efforts and finished work, His yoke is easy because when you come to Jesus, who never faints or gets weary; you draw on and receive His strength, His unshakeable, unwavering faith, belief and power. Christ is asking you to come to Him and He will give you rest. Rest from your weariness, rest from your burdens, rest from your efforts, your struggles, your faith and belief and He will be your faith, Christ will be your belief, He will be your strength, He will fight your battles, He will be all that you need and more, HE WILL BECAUSE HE CAN.

Be free men and women of God, let go of yourself and your works, the word of God says that it is by His stripes (His efforts not ours) that we are healed. Let go, put your trust and hope in Him, knowing that He is able.  Give it all to Christ and Rest in the Great I am.

Let us therefore, make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one will perish.” Hebrew 4:11

When the Veil Tore

“And Jesus cried out again with a loud voice and yielded up His Spirit. Then, behold, the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom.” Matthew 27:50-51 NKJV

During the days of Moses, God instructed the Israelites to construct a Holy Tabernacle. Within the inner courts of the tabernacle were the Holy place which housed the tent of meeting, altar of incense, table for showbread and the golden lampstand. Then there was the Most Holy Place, where the presence of God would dwell. Separating the Holy Place from the Most Holy Place was a long thick veil. Under the Mosaic Law only the High Priest from the Levite tribe was permitted to enter the Most Holy Place once per year and not without the blood of the lamb to atone for his sins and the sins of the Israelite nation. Under the Mosaic Law man’s access to God was limited, only the High Priest could enter God’s presence and offer gifts and sacrifice, only the Hebrews could be called sons and daughters of God, and only those who kept all of the Mosaic Laws could be called righteous.

But when Christ was nailed to the cross, “God made Him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God” (2 Corinthians 5:21), and, “Jesus cried out in a loud voice, ‘Eli, Eli, lema sabachthani?’ (which means, ‘My God, my God, why have your forsaken me?”, because God had to turn His back on His beloved Son so that He would never have to turn His back on us and forsake us (Joshua 1:5) Christ willing laid down His life for us on that cross and the veil that once separated us from God tore in two from top to bottom. When the veil tore Christ, “anointed us, set His seal of ownership on us, and put His Spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come.” (2 Corinthian 1:21-22) When the veil tore our Heavenly Father declared, “I will be a Father to you and you will be My sons and daughters, says the Lord almighty.” (2 CO 6:18)

Jesus paid for your sins, overcame the world, freed you from sin, cleansed you with His pure blood, gave you His righteousness and positioned you for greatness, “Love has been perfected among us in this day that we may have boldness in the day of judgment; because as He (Christ) is, so are we in this world.” (1John 4:17) And where is Christ, seated on the right hand of the mighty God. (Luke 22:69)

While there is nothing wrong with praying at church or with your pastors, elders and ministers please know this child of God, when Jesus laid down His life for you and the veil tore YOU were given access to the throne room of Your Heavenly Father, the Great I Am, day or night, anywhere, anytime, anyplace. So “let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.” (Hebrews 4:16)

A Woman Who Says Yes to God

For the past few weeks I’ve been reading this book, What Happens When Women Say Yes to God by Lysa TerKeurst, it was a book club pick from my Church’s book club. It’s a great a book and must read  for women. The title is what drew me in you see when a woman says yes to the Lord she is surrendering her entire self to God. She trusts Him in her frustrations, in her pain, in her lack; she may not understand it all but she trusts Him to take care of her. “Trust in the Lord with all of your heart, and lean not unto your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct your path.” (Proverbs 3:5-6)

When a woman surrenders herself to God, she resists the urge to take matters into her own hands, she dies to the old self and embraces the new creature (Ephesians 4:22-24), not her will or way, but she surrenders completely to God’s way. She prays, “Your Kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth (in my life, my family, my job, my future) as it is in Heaven (God’s realm, His will, His way).” (Matthew 6:10)

She is a woman who recognizes that God is the Great I Am and He is able to do what He promised and His word is sovereign and true; “God is not human, that He should lie, not a human being, that He should change His mind. Does He speak and then not act? Does He promise and not fulfill?” (Numbers 23:19) She is a person who recognizes that all things are accomplished not by might or power (her works and efforts) but by the Spirit of the Lord (God’s works and efforts) (Zechariah 4:6) so she says, “Yes Lord, I can stand, I can wait on You, I can hope, I can believe, I can press forward, I can because God, my Shepherd, my Help, my Lord…CAN!

I can because God, my Shepherd, my Help, my Lord…CAN!

Trust God’s Timing

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your path.” Proverbs 3:5-6

As one season ends and another begins I am reminded that every moment has an appointed time. Though we may not understand every challenge that comes our way, God has shown us that every situation in life has a divine purpose and for every activity under heaven there is a season.

“There is a time to be born and a time to die,

A time to plant and a time to uproot,

A time to kill and a time to heal,

A time to tear down and a time to build,

A time to weep and a time to laugh,

A time to mourn and a time to dance,

A time to scatter stones and a time to gather them,

A time to embrace and a time to refrain,

A time to search and a time to give up,

A time to keep and a time to throw away,

A time to tear and a time to mend,

A time to be silent and a time to speak,

A time to love and a time to hate,

A time for war and a time for peace.”

(Ecclesiastes 3:1-8)

Put your trust in God, the creator of time, for He knows the ending before it even begins. Embrace every season, every challenge and every moment in your life and take comfort in knowing that He is in control and that His timing and His works are truly perfect.

Positioned For Greatness

“Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me. I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him; bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.” (John 15: 4-5) NKJV

When you abide in God you position yourself for greatness. When you abide in Him you realize that it is only in Him that true success can be achieved. In Him you are strong, you’re victorious, divinely protected and able to flourish and bring forth much fruit but out of Him you are barren, unprotected and open to be destroyed and thrown away. Jesus said, “If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out as a branch and is withered; and they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned.” (John 15:6) There is an enemy out there who desires to steal, kill and destroy you (John 10:10) that can only happen if your outside of the will of God.

The gift of being in Him is that in Him there is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Galatians 5:22) Out of Him is misery and unnecessary drama. Sarah and Abraham learned that painful lesson for themselves. When God told Abraham and Sarah that they would have a child, Sarah thought at her age that’s impossible, but Saints in Him anything is possible. Instead of abiding in God and trusting in Him Sarah cooked up what she thought was a great idea; give her handmaid to her husband and have a child through her. As you know things didn’t go as Sarah planned.
Her handmaid despised her, her husband’s obligations were now divided between her and another woman and despite her best efforts she still didn’t have a child of her own.

In Him is peace and joy out of Him is drama and pain. In Him is God’s promised fulfilled, (Isaac), out of Him is a sad mess, (Ishmael)  God is a merciful God and though you or someone you know may be out of Him and His will right now its not too late to abide in Him, He is here, ready and waiting for you. Choose to position yourself for greatness, choose to be the branch that bears much fruit, choose to have true love and peace in your life, choose to abide in Him.
