Falling In Love With Jesus

One of my favorite questions I like to ask believers is this: “Tell me about the moment you fell in love with Jesus?” I’ve heard some amazing stories that truly touched my heart. With every testimony I found myself saying, Wow! How great is our God!  The Lord just recently opened my eyes to the most fascinating part of my query. He showed me the common thread in each love story. Each person I spoke to shared that their introduction to this relationship began with them hearing about Jesus.

Faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ. Romans 10:17 .

There was a woman who had been subject to bleeding for twelve years. She spent all she had going to various doctors but instead of getting better she got worse. When she heard about Jesus, she sought Him out in a crowd. She thought if she could just touch the hem of His clothing she would be healed. She did and immediately her pain and bleeding stopped. See Mark 5:25-34

The woman with the issue of blood, heard about Jesus and this led not only to her healing but to  a face-to-face encounter with Him. Jesus Himself called this once bound woman and social outcast, Daughter and a woman of faith before a huge crowd. Do you see the pattern? Faith comes by hearing the word about Christ. Speech precedes hearing. You have to speak in order to be heard.

A Word that Saves

The apostles were warned not to speak or teach in the name of Jesus Acts 4:18-20. Those who opposed them witnessed the power of that Name yet they commanded Peter and John not to speak it. Why does the world fear that Name being spoken? Perhaps it’s because the name of Jesus brings life, change and a freedom that cannot be manipulated or contained. Every time Peter and John testified about Jesus’ death and Resurrection, souls were saved, lives were changed, the sick miraculously healed. Ordinary men and women became extraordinary upon being filled with the Holy Spirit. The Apostles built up the kingdom of God simply by testifying to those who were before them about Jesus.

They spoke about it, wrote about it and lives were saved and forever changed because of one name….Jesus.

When you’re in love that  person becomes the center of all of your conversations because they’re inside your heart. You can’t stop thinking about them  and talking about them. You just want to share your joy with whomever is willing to listen to you. Are you in love with Jesus, the apostles certainly were. They believed so strongly in this love that they were willing to endure persecution and face death just to share that love with someone else.

As believers and ministers of Love we have an opportunity to play “cupid” in this epic love story. Just lift up the name of  Jesus into the hearing of others and He’ll do the rest. Your love mission, if you choose to accept it is this: To share the unfailing love of Jesus to every person God brings in your path.  Talk about Him, write about Him, find that moment to drop that name into someone’s hearing. You can be as creative as you want to be with it. I wore a “You Need Jesus” t-shirt and boy did that make for some interesting conversations about Jesus. 🙂 So if we are to be ministers of love, if we’re in fact in love with Him  then , what should proceed from our mouth? That word that led to our falling in love with Him. That name that is above all names, the only name that saves, sets free, builds up faith  and heals completelyJesus.

Do you remember when your first fell in love with Jesus?

We’d love to hear your story. 🙂

The Mystery Key

The Mystery Key

Many of you I’m sure have experienced this before you’re spring cleaning, cleaning out the garage, clearing out and organizing that storage closet of yours and you come across a mystery key. For the life of you, you cannot figure out what the key opens or if the key even belongs to you. You ask your spouse, your kids, your siblings, your roommate about the key and they don’t have a clue about it either.  No matter how long you stare at it you still can’t figure out who it belongs to and what it unlocks. Does it unlock a safe, a door, a locker maybe? You examine it up close, you run your thumb up and down its ridges, you turn it between your fingers hoping the feel of it will trigger a memory or clue but still nothing.  So you put it away, on a shelf, in a box or your personal drawer. You hold on to it with the thought that perhaps one day you’ll discover what it unlocks.

For some the bible is that mystery key. They pick it up not knowing where it came from or who it belongs to and because they are so puzzled and intrigued by this book they’re unable to throw it away instead they put it away not knowing that they just put away the key to life. Christ says, “I have come that they may have life and that they may have it more abundantly.” (John 10:10) Sitting on someone’s bookshelf is the key to that abundant life. “I will heal them and reveal to them the abundance of peace and truth.” (Jeremiah 33:6) Sitting in someone’s drawer is the key to their healing.  “Seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow.” (Matt 6:33-34) The key to a stress free life is gathering dust in someone’s storage closet.

The key to life above the economic crisis, the key to your purpose in life, the key to true love, true peace, everlasting joy and every good and perfect gift from above, “If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare His own Son, but gave Him up for us all- how will He not also, along with Him, graciously give us all things?” (Romans 8:31:32).  It can all be unlocked with the bible, the key to all of these great and wonderful things!

“He will be the sure foundation for your times, a rich store of salvation and wisdom and knowledge; the fear of the LORD is the key to this treasure.” (Isaiah 33:6) NIV. Mystery Solved! 🙂
