When Jesus Praises The Father

When Jesus Praises The Father

Whether I’m feeling victorious on God’s mountaintop or discouraged in the valley, I can count on my praise and worship of our God to lift my spirit. Whether I’m enjoying a peaceful day in the Lord or in the midst of a stormy trial; when thanksgiving and His praise fills my heart and leaves my lips, the atmosphere changes. Somehow I walk away feeling a little bit stronger. I find myself standing a little bit taller and my faith in Christ feels significantly greater. It’s a strange concept. I often wondered how praising someone else could leave me feeling encouraged.

Imagine my delight when the Lord revealed the answer to this mystery through Jesus’ praise and worship of the Father in Matthew 11:25-30.

Jesus said, “I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children. Yes, Father, for this is what you were pleased to do.”

“…Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”

An Invitation

Look at what follows Jesus’ praise, an invitation to rest. Jesus’ praise is also recorded in the book of Luke 10:21-24, and it ends with Him telling His disciples how blessed they are.

“Blessed are the eyes that see what you see. For I tell you that many prophets and kings wanted to see what you see but did not see it, and to hear what you hear but did not hear it.”

I like what the apostle Peter says, “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In His great mercy He has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade.[i]

It’s no wonder we’re transformed in the midst of His praises, for it ushers us into His rest. It reminds us of the Father’s unfailing love and that we’re not alone in this. I don’t believe God is seeking praise for Himself, scripture testifies to this. I believe praying, fasting and praise is how we submit our efforts to the Spirit. I see these signs of submission being received as a gentle tug on God’s garment. Like the woman with the issue blood (see Mark 5:21-34/Luke 8:40-48), our tug draws power from God.

Rejuvenation, strength, hope, peace and rest flows to us effortlessly simply because we desire it, we desire Him. It’s not a way to manipulate God into doing things for you, if that’s your intent, you won’t receive His gift. You can’t manipulate for something that is freely given.

Be encouraged children of God. In every situation praise Him and let His Spirit take you to new heights in Him. In Jesus name. Amen.

“The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in Him, and He helps me. My heart leaps for joy, and with my song I praise Him.”[ii]

The Father’s Will

The Father’s Will

The Gethsemane Prayer Matt 26-36-44 Mk 14:32-42 Lk 22: 40-46

“Jesus went with His disciples to a place called Gethsemane, and He said to them, “Sit here while I go over there and pray.” 37 “…He began to be sorrowful and troubled. 38 Then He said to them, “My soul is overwhelmed with sorrow to the point of death. Stay here and keep watch with me.”39 “Going a little farther, He fell with His face to the ground and prayed, “My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will.”

Jesus prayed this prayer three times.

42 “Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done.” 44 “…Being in anguish, He prayed more earnestly, and His sweat was like drops of blood falling to the ground.”-Luke 22

There are some scriptures in the bible that you don’t have to force yourself to memorize. They are burned into your mind; etched on your heart. There’s no forgetting them. For me, the Gethsemane Prayer is “that one” I will carry with me always. Here we have Jesus, our Sovereign Savior, having a very human moment. It’s no wonder why the book of Hebrews records that we have a High Priest, who is Jesus that can be touched. In this prayer we witness Humanity versus Divinity. A moment where sinless, spotless humanity submits to God’s sovereignty. Jesus sets aside His will and desires to do the desire and will of God.

God has chosen to reveal what feels like a very private and intimate moment between He and His Son, therefore, it is of great importance to know and study the will our Savior submitted to, the will of our Father.

Here are just a few key verses to aid you in your study of the Father’s Willchild smiling

He Has A Plan For You

  • 11For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11

He Desires To Be Intimately Involved In Your Life

  • “I will put my laws in their minds and write them on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people.” Hebrews 8:10

He Wants To Bless You

  • “I will make you exceedingly fruitful.” Genesis 17:6
  • “I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing.” Genesis 12:2

Above All He Wants  To Save You And See You Live

  • “I have come that they may have life, and they may have it more abundantly”John 10:10
  • “I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more.” Hebrews 8:10
  • “The Lord is not slow in keeping His promise, as some understand slowness. Instead He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.”2 Peter 3:9
  • “I take no pleasure in the death of anyone,” declares the Sovereign Lord. “Repent and live!” Ezekiel 18:32

God’s Motive – Love!

“For God so loved the world (You) that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16

Hallelujah! 🙂

Seek and You Will Find

I’ve come to realize in my own walk with Christ that you cannot seek God and call upon His name and God not affect every area of your life. The beauty of prayer is this, when you pray you unleash God’s power and will into your life. He touches everyone and everything that is connected to you. Now God is not a bully, He doesn’t bulldoze His way into your life, He’s a gentleman, which is why He says, “Ask…seek…knock. He’s waiting for you to invite Him in.

I shared with my 17-year old son the news of me being accepted back into the Bachelors program after having to drop out twice. My son says to me, “I don’t know why you’re so surprised, didn’t God say that He was going to do it. God always does what He says!” To that I said Hallelujah!

A few months ago I was teaching my 10-year old about prayer and how she should bring her fears to God. Like most kids she confessed that the only thing she fears is her parents splitting up because she doesn’t want to be separated from her family. I don’t know why but I felt prompted to ask, “You don’t fear death?” and she said to me, “No, I know I’m going to be with my family in eternity.” My heart said, “Wow, glory to God!” I could not believe the faith that was coming out of a 10- year old child. I know adults who haven’t fully embraced the gift of eternity, yet my daughter does.

The other day my four-year old wanted me to play with him and I told him that mommy wasn’t feeling so good. As soon as the words left my mouth, he placed his little toddler hands on my chest and prayed, “Father God in the name of Jesus, make mommy feel all better. Amen.” To that I said, thank you God.

If I were to put a label on my husband it would be Mr. Revelation. He doesn’t spend the time studying the word, as most tend to think. You don’t see him holed up in his “spiritual closet” 24/7. He simply has the desire to know the heart of God and within minutes God reveals to him hidden truths you’ve never heard preached or taught before. It is amazing to see a man with no formal training gifted with a natural ability to read the “Spirit” behind the text and be able to understand and explain the most complicated verses in the bible.

Prayer Changes Things

Your prayer does not need to be high and lofty or of elegant speech, it just needs to be sincere. There have been moments in my prayer life where the only words I was able to get out in between my sobs is, “Father help me!” , and in those moments I witnessed the power of Heaven move with great authority in my life.

I’m sharing what God is doing in my family to encourage you in this, that every promise in Christ is a yes! God is not going to save you and not bless and heal your family. Your child is a “yes”; your marriage is a “yes”. Your healing is a “yes”. That victory you are seeking is a “yes” in Christ.

Don’t be deceived by what you see in this visible realm, even if the person who is giving you the most grief is the one closest to you. Don’t be discouraged for a greater realm is at work on your behalf.

Please know that you are “in Christ” today and every day that follows and that my friend is a position of greatness! Keep seeking; keep believing, your hope in Christ will not be put to shame.

 Ask…Seek… Knock…Pray! It’s an open invitation.

A Spring Prayer

pinkblossomIn Luke 4 Jesus boldly declares that He came to set the captives free and proclaim freedom for the prisoners. The prison break Jesus is speaking of is not a physical prison but an internal one. You can appear to have it all together but on the inside you’re sad and empty. This is not the life Jesus died for you to have. Jesus was beaten and pierced, He went to Hell and back and rose victorious so that you may have His fullness and joy in every area of your life.

What has you bound today? I believe by faith that this will be a season of release, renewal, much fruit and abundance for you.  Father God, my prayer is simple,  set the captives free!

Father free addictions, anger, anxiety, bitterness, broken hearts, condemnation, depression, disappointment and doubt. Father set the captives free!

Lord free emptiness, envy, fear, feelings of failure, hatred, jealousy, loss, negative thoughts, pain and pride. Release the bondage of racism, regret, resentment, sadness, selfishness, suffering and temptation. Father set the captives free!

Father free us from traditions! Christ said this in Matthew when asked why does His disciples break the traditions of the elders. Christ asked, “Why do you break the command of God for the sake of your traditions…These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me.” Father, here is my heart, I want to be real with You. Father set the captive free!

Father release the bonds of un-forgiveness, un-fruitfulness, unworthiness, vengeance  and worry. These are just works of the flesh not fruits of Your Spirit. We are destined to live above this. Father set the captives free!

See that thing that is holding you back and has you bound, nailed to the cross and see your freedom in the risen body of Christ, seated at the right hand of the Father.

Embrace the New You

See yourself as your Heavenly Father sees you, for you are Christ’s workmanship, created and destined for greatness.  You are Saved, Forgiven, Righteous, Justified, A Conqueror, His Ambassador, His Beloved, Whole, Fruitful … His Masterpiece. No longer bound but set free indeed! Amenpinktree

The Thought Life

But we have the mind of Christ 1 Corinthians 2:16

Father God I thank you for keeping my thought life in constant fellowship with you. Your word says, For My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways, declares the Lord.-Isaiah 55:8 But because of Christ, who anointed us, set His seal of ownership on us, and put His Spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come. We can abandon our discouraging thoughts and embrace His thoughts of us. Father thank you for giving us the mind of Christ.

What are Your thoughts of me?

That I am deeply loved by You and Your love for me is unconditional. God you love us so much that while we were still in sin, you gave us your Beloved Son so that anyone who believes may have eternal life with you.

Nothing can separate us from your Love. John 3:16 & Romans 8:38-39

No matter what things look like, hardships or triumphs, mountains or valleys, You make it all work out for my good. You saved me, justified, glorified and conformed me to the image of Your Son. You are with me always. Father if You are for me, who can be against me. I am more than a conqueror in You. Romans 8:28-37

finding peaceYou made me the righteousness of God in Christ, I am seated with Christ, who sits at Your right hand. I am who you say I am. I am not my mistakes, I am not my past or my failures. I am not my heartbreak. I am the object of Your love and mercy. The one whom you load up daily with your blessings. I am the one who You fight for. I am a child of God. I am yours. 2 Corinthians 5:21 & Ephesians 2:6

A Prayer for Today

Father God, keep the thought-life of your children in fellowship with You. Strip away the negative thoughts and fill their mind and hearts with Your thoughts of them. Thoughts of peace, joy and victory in You. With unveiled hearts let them see the love and grace of your Son in every situation that comes their way. May the peace of God, that peace that surpasses all understanding guard their hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.

See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! 1John 3:1

A Prescription for Anxiety

Got Anxiety?anxiety

I think at some point in our lives we’ve all faced anxiety. Whether you’re a parent, a business exec, pastor, politician or student you’re bound to get to a point where life and its tasks become increasingly overwhelming and when it hits you it’s like a vicious wave slamming into you from every side. So today when I felt the waves of anxiety crashing up against me I found myself saying, “Father help me, surely you have an answer… a prescription for this. Then I saw the words “Be anxious for nothing.” It just flashed into my mind so I picked up my bible and read God’s prescription for Anxiety.

Problem: Anxiety

Symptoms: (according to WebMd) : Feeling overwhelmed/feelings of fear, palpitations, shortness of breath, chest pain, dizziness, nausea, a feeling of being detached from the world, feeling unable to control the simple things.

God’s Prescription: Philippians 4:6-7

Do not be anxious about anything.

FAQ: How do I stop being anxious? Please see directions for use.

Directions: In every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. Please note: this prescription can be used not just in some but in every situation. You can present ANY and ALL situations to God: the good, the bad and the ugly stuff.

Side Effects: The peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Before He was arrested, Jesus prayed for this cup to pass from Him but not His will but God’s will be done and in the midst of Christ’s struggle, scripture says, Luke 22:44 New Living Translation (NLT) He prayed more fervently, and He was in such agony of spirit that His sweat fell to the ground like great drops of blood.”

God sent an angel of the Lord to strengthen Jesus in His time of need. Now if God can send help to His Beloved Son whom He willingly gave up for the sole purpose of reconciling us back to Him, to make us His Sons and Daughters then surely God can strengthen us and help us in our time of need.

When you study the roles of a good father and a good king you find something unique that they have in common, their top priority is your welfare and whole-being. God gave up His Son, not so you can remain broken from anxiety, loss and fear, Jesus laid down His life for you so that you could be made whole, in every area of your life. You can enjoy the benefits, the gifts of having Heaven’s best, because that’s what you got when He gave you Christ, you can have it with a simple thing called prayer.

Now prayer is not a formal thing, it’s not a loud and lofty act, its intimate. It’s you and God having a heart to heart conversation, not telling Him what you think He wants to hear but what is truly on your heart, the good… the bad… and the ugly. The word says we have not because we ask not. Got issues, then ask the Great I Am, Your Father to move mighty in that area of your life.  If nothing on Heaven or Earth can separate you from His Love then there’s no situation in Heaven or Earth that you can’t bring to God.  Your loss, your heartbreak even in this He can give you comfort and understanding. Your worries, your struggles, your dreams, He can see you through it, He can show you the way.

Christ came so you can have an abundant life not a defeated one and prayer is you grabbing a hold of it. Question… have you taken your prescription today?

A Blessed Weekend

I pray that you all had a safe and blessed weekend this Memorial Day weekend as we remembered our loved ones that sacrificed themselves for us. I thank God for the greatest sacrifice of all, His Son Jesus Christ. Thank you Father for the eternal freedom we have in YOU.

My weekend started with a Spirit-led class taught by an amazing woman of God, my sister Cassey, who spoke to us about self-care. She let us know that self-care begins  and ends with God and that His care is not limited to our spiritual well-being but our physical, mental and emotional well-being too. My plate is pretty full right now, if I’m lucky I may get 15-30 minutes just for me, not enough time for a spa appointment but just enough time to have a one on one chat with God. When I found that moment I asked God to show me what self-care looks like.

His word to me was WAIT and BE STILL.

Be Still before the Lord and wait patiently for Him.” Psalm 37:7

“I wait for the LORD, my whole being waits, and in HIS word I put my hope.” Psalm 130:5 (NKJV)

How did I accomplish this? By simply enjoying the day that God blessed me with, knowing that He planned my day yesterday and that every step I took had already been given to me by Him. Most of all that He was with me through the good and bad, the highs and the lows and that He has my back.

Ask. Seek. Knock. – For everyone  who asks receive;the one who seeks finds; and to the one knocks, the door will be opened. Matt. 7:8

I simply asked God a question and what I received through the mouths of strangers was a showering of His word not just on me but over my whole family. His Word to me:

That every promise to me was a Yes!

That my latter days will be even better than my former days.

That I would be entering a season of laughter.

To be encouraged in our stand for God for God is with us.

To expect a fresh revelation from Him.

That the wisdom of God was already in my children and that they will be known as His.

This blog began with a desire to share what God has revealed to me and by the grace of God that was shown toward me I want to share my blessings with you, may it be multiplied to you.

A Prayer Just for You

To Our Mighty and Awesome God who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us (Eph 3:20) May the grace and peace of Jesus Christ and all of  the blessings and  promises of God be greatly multiplied to You and your loved ones. May He reveal to you His Heart’s desire for you. You are saved, forgiven and made righteous by Him. You are God’s beloved and He has an awesome plan for you.  Open your heart and receive His Grace and Unconditional Love for you.

In Jesus name. Amen

Naked and Unashamed

In the beginning God the Creator of all creation planted a garden called Eden which He placed Man to live in. Picture a vast land lush and green, filled with fruit bearing trees and colorful vegetation, this was the farmer’s market of all farmers’ markets. Fresh water rivers glistening like a sparkling jewel across the land. There must have been so much to see and explore in a land filled with gold, onyx and aromatic resin. Every day must have felt like a safari with every animal ever created living in the same land. With the command of the Father to both Man and Animal to eat of the vegetation only, along with the dominion over the earth and all that dwell on it given to Man, that means there were no predators or prey… just God’s peace.

God placed Man in a finished work, a successful, established and thriving garden and He gave Man the CEO position to manage this work.  On top of that God told Adam and Eve that they were free to eat of any tree except for one. With all of Creation eating the same thing I would imagine that God’s garden would have an endless supply of food.

Scripture says this about Adam and Eve, Adam and his wife were both naked, and they felt no shame.-Gen 2:25 NIV Now most of us, not all, would have a problem with walking around naked. I would definitely feel like “something” was missing in my life (lol!). This is a beautiful illustration of the Believer in Christ and what being a child of God looks like. Adam and Eve were in the presence of God, naked and unashamed, lacking nothing in the abundance of God.

Every time you turn to God in prayer it’s like being transported back to the Garden of Eden. Every time you open up your heart to Him you are stripping yourself of your own self-efforts and self-righteousness and allowing yourself to be clothed in Him, dependent on Him, provided for by Him, relying on His efforts and not your own to finish what HE started in you, to fulfill the vision and purpose for your life.

Your New Wardrobe

“For those God foreknew (that’s you!) He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son.”

“And those He predestined, He also called, those He called, He also justified; those He justified, He also glorified.”-Rom 8:29 & 30

If you have a need or a great burden, God has you covered, if you need healing you are clothed in the Spirit of God that will quicken that mortal body of yours.  Because you’ve turned to God, confessed His Son and trusted Him with the contents of your heart, you are clothed in perfection, the image of His Son, adorned in His calling, beautifully dressed in His justification and glory. Free to live in His abundance, equipped to accomplish all things through Christ, living off of His Resume and not yours. You are loved and positioned for greatness. You are the best dressed… Naked and Unashamed.

 A Prayer for Today

Open your heart to God today, give Him the things you’re afraid to come to Him with, share with Him the YOU behind the mask, the “bare-naked” YOU. There is no shame or condemnation in God’s presence just an abundance of Love and Grace. In Jesus name. Amen.
