Free to Have His Way

“I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly” (John 10:10)

The other day I was watching the Disney Movie “Aladdin” and there was this scene from the movie that really struck a chord within me. Aladdin, the main character, had rubbed a mysterious lamp he found and in that lamp was a powerful genie. Aladdin had three wishes and while contemplating what they would be he asked the Genie what would he wish for. The Genie said that no one had ever asked him that before, it was always “poof” what do you need but oh to be free! I imagined God to be like the genie of the lamp and how it must sound to Him to hear, “Lord give me this!”, “Lord I want this!”, or “Lord do this!” when all the Lord wants to do is be free to have His way in our lives.

Free to bless us abundantly (John 10:10). Free to supply us with all of our needs (Philippians 4:19). Free to open up the windows of Heaven and pour out a blessing upon us that cannot be contained (Malachi 3:10). Free to bless us with the desires of our heart. The bible says to “Delight yourself in the Lord, and He shall give you the desires of your heart.” (Psalm 37:4) In other words free our Heavenly Father to have his perfect will and way in every area of our life. When Aladdin finally freed the Genie he gained a true friend for life.

Father God we release You to have your way in our life. We pray that Your Kingdom come and that Your will be done in our  lives today and every day. God we desire Your will and an everlasting friendship with You. In Jesus name we pray, Amen.

A True Change

The other day I realized that I have truly changed. This came about while I was doing laundry, I was carrying my laundry basket to my bedroom when I stubbed my toe, really hard. There was a time when something like that would happen and the four letter words would come flying out of my mouth but instead I hollered, “Glory to God.” Moments later as I was leaving my room I stubbed my toe again, the same toe and once again the words, “Glory to God” flew out of my mouth. What really sealed the deal for me was what happened an hour later. While I was cooking dinner and slicing onions I cut my finger really deep, the pain was unreal and without a single thought I screamed to the top of my lungs, “Glory to God, Hallelujah!” I realized then that when a person can praise God in the midst of pain,  God has truly transformed them and you know what I couldn’t be happier about it.

I can’t pinpoint the exact day that this heart transformation took place and I am the first to say that I am far from perfect  but somehow by no effort of my own, God placed His praise on my tongue. He changed me, made me a better me, He enriched my life with His love and His grace.

You may not be where you want to be, doing the things you desire to do most . You may be going through the worst time in your life. You may think that it’s all up to you, that  you have to be the one to make things happen but I can honestly say that all you have to do is trust God  and wait on Him. Turn to Him in prayer with your doubts, fears, your dreams and your desires because true change begins and ends with Him and because He loves you with an everlasting love He will move mountains and part seas for you. I don’t know who this simple message is for but I believe God wants you to stay encouraged you are not alone in this thing called life 🙂  so don’t give up.

I cried out to Him with my mouth; His praise was on my tongue. Psalm 66:17 NIV

How Faith Works

“What does it profit, my brothers, if someone says he has faith but does not have works?” (James 2:14)

The book of James goes on to say, “Show me your faith without your works, and I will show you my faith by my works.” (James 2:18). We activate our faith with our works. Here is a good example of how faith works:

Many of us made the resolution that this is the year that we will get healthy and lose weight. We believe that if we eat right and exercise everyday we will reach our goal, this is our faith. So we get up an hour earlier than we normally do to go running or we head straight to the gym after work to workout for an hour or two, this saints is our work! The benefit of our faith and works is a slim and healthy body.

Faith and works is one of God’s spiritual laws, it’s how we came to be saved. First we believed in our hearts that God is our Father and the creator of all things and that His son, Jesus Christ, died for our sins (faith). Then we confessed this with our tongue (our work).

You can apply this spiritual law to your life right now! Perhaps you dream to go back to school, or start your own business; you can achieve your dreams simply by activating your faith. It starts with you believing that it can be done and then working toward making it happen.

I believe that God has placed a vision in you that you’ve been dreaming of pursuing. Pursue this vision knowing that He will also make the provisions to make the vision reality. God does not want an ordinary life for His people, make today the day you decide that you are going to move on faith. Allow your Heavenly Father to move forward with His plans for your life by believing and pushing yourself forward. May your faith and your works give birth to a more abundant and fulfilling life. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.

Are You a Martha or a Mary?

“He [Jesus] came to a village where a woman named Martha opened her home to Him. She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet listening to what He said. But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to Him and asked, “Lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!” The Lord answered, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and upset about many things, but only one thing is needed. Mary has chosen what is better and it will not be taken away from her.”(Luke 10:38-42)

Are you a Martha or a Mary? Sometimes we find ourselves so consumed with our day to day lives and chores that it literally robs us of precious time with God. When we wake up we have every intention to start our day with praise and worship to the Lord, but for some reason life gets in the way. Just the other day I rose early to praise the Lord. I entered my living room, which is where I planned to do my worship and saw that it was a mess, so what did I do, I cleaned it. There was a drinking glass on my floor so I took it to the kitchen and saw that there were a few dishes in the sink, so I thought hey, let me wash these really quick. Those three dishes led me to wiping down the counters, sweeping the floor and emptying the garbage. The Lord then asked me, “Are you a Martha or a Mary?” and I said, “What do you mean Lord?” The Lord then said, “You just spent an hour cleaning, you’ve placed your chores before me.”  The Lord said in His own words, “Do not worry saying, ‘What shall we eat? or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For all these things pagans seek, For your Heavenly Father knows that you need all of these things. But seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness and all of these things shall be added to you.” (Matthew 6: 31:33)  God didn’t care that my sofa pillows were on the floor, God did not care that there were three dirty dishes in the sink; the only thing that God wanted from me was me. God knows our needs better than we do and if we seek Him first, if we make Him our first priority, He will give us all of the things we need. If its time you need, He’ll give you time, if you need healing, salvation for you loved ones,  a financial blessing, a new path, a new career or in my case a house that stays clean, whatever the need is, seek Him first and He will give you your heart’s desire. I encourage you saints to break those old habits and impulses, resist the urge to fall into your normal routine, ignore the phone, ignore the email, ignore that sock on the floor, program yourself to seek Him first before you tend to the needs of the world.

Father God at Your feet is where we long to be and we thank You for revealing to us that when we place our day to day activities, even the simple activities before You we rob ourselves of precious time with You.  Father God we thank You for what You’ve done, for what You’re doing and for what You are about to do? We thank You for your Kingdom and for making this year the year of Your great revelations. In Jesus name we pray, amen! Remember saints Kingdom First!
