When God Sees You

There is a verse in Genesis 16 that multiplies my peace and joy, every time I read it.  It involves an encounter between Hagar, the Egyptian slave of Abraham and the Angel of the LORD.

Hagar was given to her master Abraham by his wife Sarah to bear children for them because Sarah was barren. When Hagar got pregnant, Sarah became jealous and angry, which led to Hagar running away. The Angel of the LORD found Hagar near a spring in the desert and He spoke to her about the things that concerned her. He instructed her to go back and revealed that He will increase her descendants beyond measure and that she would give birth to a son, named Ishmael because the LORD has heard her misery.

What Hagar says in verse 13 is what sets me free, “You are the God who sees me,” for she said, “I have now seen the One who sees me.”

The Eyes of the Lord

There is a beautiful revelation in this chapter, that the Father sees you and hears your cries especially in those moments when you think you’re all alone.

I think about my “Hagar” moments, those moments the world doesn’t get to see. When everything around you seems to be falling apart and you’re fighting to hold it together. Moments where you know God is with you, yet you can’t help feeling alone. You sit in your car with the radio on or you lock yourself in the bathroom and cut on the shower so no one can hear you cry. When all you have left in you is your mustard seed of faith and your hope in Christ and you cling to it like one would cling to a spring in a desert. When you want to pray but you can’t pray because you don’t know what to say.

Maybe you’re unsure that God is even with you anymore because you don’t hear his voice and the pain hurts that much. Then God shows up and reveals that He sees you. He heard your cries and afflictions, He saw every tear, He heard every prayer and the concerns on your heart. He sees your struggle, your doubt, your fears, your faith and your stand. Yes, you’re in a desert right now but you’re not alone. God reveals Himself in an undeniable way and says to you,  I Am with you, I Am your Spring in the desert. I Am the One who sees you and loves you with an everlasting love and I will give you the desires of your heart beyond measure. What I do next for you, will go exceedingly and abundantly above what you asked and thought.

When God is looking at you

Hagar was a Gentile; You are children of Light, raised with Christ and co-heirs with Him. What Hagar received was just a shadow of the goodness and mercies of God. You, child of God, have the fullness of God’s promise with you and in you.

Here are a few scriptures for you.

During the days of Noah, a time where the world was dark and plagued with sin, much like our world today. “Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD.” –Genesis 6:8

Child of God be confident in this, God’s grace will abound towards you in times of trouble.

“For the eyes of the LORD range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to Him.” -2Chronicles 16:9

No you’re not perfect, but God sees that you have a heart for Him. When you are weak, believe that He will make you strong. When you’re feeling weary, He will give you rest.

“The eyes of the LORD are on the righteous, and His ears are attentive to their cry.” Psalms 34:15

Don’t shy away from the word righteous, that is who you are, the righteousness of God in Christ. It is a gift from God, given to you not by your works but by the finished work of His Son, Jesus Christ.

Be Encouraged

Read and meditate on Psalm 139; it’s a beautiful confirmation that compliments this revelation. Our Father, who sees you, hears you, cares for you and will never leave you or forsake you, loves you.

Today is Your Day

oceanYears ago my husband and I were visiting a friend in the hospital, her diagnosis was grim but she still managed to smile. She asked me about my writing and I told her that I was working on a book. Her husband looked at her and said, “You always said you would write a book one day.” She never did. Sadly her story is a very common one. You may have heard it before; “I’ll travel and take that art class one day.” Or, “I’ll rest and enjoy life when I retire. “ Even sadder are the Believers who say; “One day I’ll have my peace and joy, when I get to Heaven.”

While at the Post Office my mother and I were griping about how we really needed to slow down and take a break. The gentlemen standing behind us politely cut in and said, “You’ll get plenty of rest when you’re dead.” We laughed at this but later I thought, “Could it be that peace, joy and rest could only be had when we get to Heaven?

A Thief Made Whole

Two thieves hung on either side of Jesus as He hung on the cross. One thief mocked Him the other rebuked the thief and boldly confessed that Jesus was innocent and underserving of this punishment. Then he turned to Him and said, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your Kingdom.” Listen to what Jesus says, “Truly I tell you today you will be with me in paradise.” –Luke23: 39-43

Let’s fast-forward, Jesus died later that day. The following day the Jewish leaders wanted to take the bodies down, for the sake of their traditions. They broke the legs of the two criminals because they were still alive; when they came to Jesus and saw that He was dead they pierced His side. Jesus was dead, the thief was alive but didn’t Jesus promise him that he would be in paradise with Him today?

The Promise of Today

1John says that everyone who believes that Jesus is the Messiah is born of God. Romans 10 says if you declare with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead you will be saved. Picture the thief on the cross, he may have been nailed to a cross but he was set free. No longer a thief but Saved. Imagine the peace he had with the hope Jesus had given him, a peace that became his, Today.

This thief received the gift of paradise Today but how much more is your peace and joy in the fullness and finished work of Christ right now. The thief had a promise but you my friend received the fulfillment of the Promise. You were raised up with Christ and received the Spirit of Sonship through His finished work. You are clothed in His Righteousness, sealed by His blood, filled with His Holy Spirit. You are saved, justified, at peace with God. The kingdom of God is not only with you but it is in you.

I believe the very moment you come to Jesus with a sincere heart and believe that your are the object of His great love and affection, salvation is yours, healing and deliverance is yours, freedom is yours. Peace, joy and love are yours. Paradise is yours even as you lay in a hospital bed, sit in a prison cell or hang on a cross. You are seated with Christ, as Christ is so are you on this earth, not when you get your self together, or when you get to Heaven. Not some day but right now in Christ.

My friend if you are in Christ, Paradise and all it has to offer is yours in Him right now, so what are you waiting for!

Your Abraham Blessings

YOUR ABRAHAM BLESSING

“Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree”, that the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith. (Galatians 3:3-15) NKJV

Before the law, before the Ten Commandments, before the seal of circumcision was the promise; an everlasting covenant that God made with Abraham. The word of God says that, “If you belong to Christ then you are Abraham’s seed and heirs according to the promise.” (Galatians 3:29) NIV.  Christ died and took the punishment of the curse (the law) so that believers, Abraham’s seed, may receive by grace the blessings of Abraham. Your Abraham blessings are as follows:

“I will make you into a great nation,

And I will bless you;

I will make your name great,

And you will be a blessing.

I will bless those who bless you,

And whoever curses you I will curse;

And all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.” (Genesis 12:2-3)

Success, favor, abundance, fruitfulness and unlimited blessings (see also Genesis 13:14-17;15:1; 15: 5-7) are the blessing of Abraham and You are Abraham’s heir and this is God’s promise, given to you not by your works or good deeds by God’s grace and unmerited favor. The only thing that is required of you…is belief.  “Abram believed the Lord, and He credited it to him as righteousness.” (Genesis 15:6) It’s that simple believers, heirs of Abraham … just believe.

The only thing that is required of you…is belief.

HAPPY DEPENDENCE DAY!

“Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord, the people He has chosen as His own inheritance.” Psalm 33:12 NKJV

When I look at our nation’s dollar bill I cannot help but to smile, I wonder if our forefathers knew the outpouring that was released when they placed the words, “In God We Trust”, on our dollar bill. When the US pledge of allegiance was written and accepted did the writer know that the doors of Heaven would burst open and rain blessings and anointing over the United States because it declared that we were “One nation under God.”

Our nation recently celebrated its Independence from the King of England and while the day was a fun filled day for all  I thank God that I’m a believer because as believers we can celebrate our Dependence on God, the King of all Kings, each and every day.

The bible says, “Because he loves me,” says the Lord, “I will rescue him; I will protect him, for he acknowledges My name. He will call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him. With long life will I satisfy him and show him my salvation.” (Psalm 91:14)

It is my strong belief that when we as believers claim God, He claims us. Just like He once did for our nation’s founding fathers He has done for us, the believers. God pours out a fresh anointing on His people each and every day. He shields us, and He fights for us because we claimed Him. God has prospered us in the midst of an economic crisis, blessed us while others were losing it all, and healed us and our loved ones when the doctors said there was no hope.

In the beginning, the United States was a nation who claimed God, our Nations written laws were once lined up with God’s laws, sadly the tides are changing for our nation, for we now live in a country that has ripped God out of our public schools and now our schools are out of control. We’ve voted into law behavior that violates God and His laws and now our nation is in turmoil. As children of God I think it is important that we come together right now and stand for God, claim God, do not compromise on God’s law for the sake of harmony, claim Him not just in your home and in your church but at the office, in the schools and in the voting booths. Let’s celebrate our dependence on God by claiming Him.

I encourage you to pray for our nation’s leaders, pray for the lawmakers, pray for the President and his family, pray that they may draw near to God so that He may draw near to them. Let’s bring this nation back to a nation who boldly claimed God. In Jesus name we pray, Happy Dependence Day Saints! Amen
