When God Sees You

There is a verse in Genesis 16 that multiplies my peace and joy, every time I read it.  It involves an encounter between Hagar, the Egyptian slave of Abraham and the Angel of the LORD.

Hagar was given to her master Abraham by his wife Sarah to bear children for them because Sarah was barren. When Hagar got pregnant, Sarah became jealous and angry, which led to Hagar running away. The Angel of the LORD found Hagar near a spring in the desert and He spoke to her about the things that concerned her. He instructed her to go back and revealed that He will increase her descendants beyond measure and that she would give birth to a son, named Ishmael because the LORD has heard her misery.

What Hagar says in verse 13 is what sets me free, “You are the God who sees me,” for she said, “I have now seen the One who sees me.”

The Eyes of the Lord

There is a beautiful revelation in this chapter, that the Father sees you and hears your cries especially in those moments when you think you’re all alone.

I think about my “Hagar” moments, those moments the world doesn’t get to see. When everything around you seems to be falling apart and you’re fighting to hold it together. Moments where you know God is with you, yet you can’t help feeling alone. You sit in your car with the radio on or you lock yourself in the bathroom and cut on the shower so no one can hear you cry. When all you have left in you is your mustard seed of faith and your hope in Christ and you cling to it like one would cling to a spring in a desert. When you want to pray but you can’t pray because you don’t know what to say.

Maybe you’re unsure that God is even with you anymore because you don’t hear his voice and the pain hurts that much. Then God shows up and reveals that He sees you. He heard your cries and afflictions, He saw every tear, He heard every prayer and the concerns on your heart. He sees your struggle, your doubt, your fears, your faith and your stand. Yes, you’re in a desert right now but you’re not alone. God reveals Himself in an undeniable way and says to you,  I Am with you, I Am your Spring in the desert. I Am the One who sees you and loves you with an everlasting love and I will give you the desires of your heart beyond measure. What I do next for you, will go exceedingly and abundantly above what you asked and thought.

When God is looking at you

Hagar was a Gentile; You are children of Light, raised with Christ and co-heirs with Him. What Hagar received was just a shadow of the goodness and mercies of God. You, child of God, have the fullness of God’s promise with you and in you.

Here are a few scriptures for you.

During the days of Noah, a time where the world was dark and plagued with sin, much like our world today. “Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD.” –Genesis 6:8

Child of God be confident in this, God’s grace will abound towards you in times of trouble.

“For the eyes of the LORD range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to Him.” -2Chronicles 16:9

No you’re not perfect, but God sees that you have a heart for Him. When you are weak, believe that He will make you strong. When you’re feeling weary, He will give you rest.

“The eyes of the LORD are on the righteous, and His ears are attentive to their cry.” Psalms 34:15

Don’t shy away from the word righteous, that is who you are, the righteousness of God in Christ. It is a gift from God, given to you not by your works but by the finished work of His Son, Jesus Christ.

Be Encouraged

Read and meditate on Psalm 139; it’s a beautiful confirmation that compliments this revelation. Our Father, who sees you, hears you, cares for you and will never leave you or forsake you, loves you.

Loved by God

heart bible

The Spirit of Love is in the air and what better way to celebrate than with words from the greatest love story ever written. I love how every verse and every story in the bible reads like a poem written by the Author of Love. In His own words the Creator of all professes to the entire world that He deeply and intimately loves you.

Intimately Loved and Known

I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with unfailing kindness. This is why I saved you; covered you in the redemptive blood of my Son.

I gave you My peace that surpasses understanding and placed my Holy Spirit inside of you. You will never be alone. You are intimately loved and known.

The very hairs of your head are all numbered. Yes, I took the time to count them. You are intimately loved and known.

Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you.

I blessed you and chose you to be a reflection of who I am.

I have seen you at your best and at your worst and I have loved you through it all. You have been tried, judged and the verdict is in. You are and always will be innocent in my eyes thanks to My Son.

I promise that I will never leave you or forsake you. You are intimately loved and known by Me.

I care about the things you care about. Don’t be afraid to let Me in. I am here to help you not to harm you, to give you hope and an amazing future.

Your forgotten prayers, not yet formulated prayers, your unspoken prayers and not so perfect prayers.

Your thoughts, your hopes, your dreams and desires.

Your fears, your mind, the very depth of your heart, spirit and soul is intimately loved and known by Me.

I am not a Man that lies or tells tales nor am I one that makes promises I cannot keep. Trust in Me, trust My Love. Trust My loving thoughts toward you.

My promise to you is this, neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers,  neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate you from Me.

I Love you and this Love will never fail you.

You are intimately known and loved by Me.

God’s Name Revealed

I was studying the True Lord’s Prayer found in John 17:1-26  when this verse jumped out at me. Christ said, “Holy Father, protect them by the power of your name, the name you gave me, so that they may be one as we are one. –John 17:11 I know the name that God gave  His Son was Jesus Christ the Savior of Man but in this verse Christ speaks of the power of God’s name, the name He gave Christ. So I journeyed back through the four gospels and saw that Christ always referred to God as “His” Father. John chapters 7 and 8 details a dispute amongst the people and the Jewish leaders about who Jesus was and who His father was and He consistently spoke into their hearing that “His Father” is God. There was only one place in the scripture that I found where Christ did not refer to God as His Father and it was in Matthew 27:46 when He cried in a loud voice, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken Me?” I believe that it was in that moment that,

“He surely took our pain and bore our suffering,

yet we considered Him punished by God,  stricken by Him, and afflicted.

But He was pierced for our transgressions,

He was crushed for our iniquities;

the punishment that brought us peace was on Him,

and by His wounds we are healed.Isaiah 53:4-5

In the True Lord’s prayer Christ says to His Father in verse 26, “I have made you known to them and will continue to make you known in order that the love you have for me may be in them and that I myself may be in them.”

When the disciples asked Jesus to teach them to pray (Luke 11) He said to them, “When you pray, say: ‘Father’ ”.  FATHER is the name Christ revealed to us, it’s how He wants us to see God, as Our Father. Christ took our punishment and was forsaken by His Father for a moment on that cross, so that we may never be forsaken. By His wounds we can boldly say, “Our Father” yours and mine.

What is Love?

is Love?

“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always, preserves. Love never fails.”( 1Corinthian 13: 4-8) NIV

“Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. This is how God showed His love among us: He sent His one and only Son into the world that we might live through Him. This is love. (1John 4:8-10) NIV

A Prayer For Today

Father God because of love you redeemed me; took my sins to the cross and died for me. You forgave me, restored me, You set me free and blessed me abundantly. Through it all you never left me or forsake me. God I love You and I thank You for loving me.

Faith Like a Child

“The disciples came to Jesus and asked, “Who is the greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven?” He called a little child and had him stand among them. And He said:  “I tell you the truth, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the Kingdom. Therefore whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven.” (Matthew 18:1-4) NIV

I have three amazing children who make me laugh and tickle my soul. The other day my six-year-old daughter revealed to me the “keys” to entering God’s Kingdom.  About a year ago my husband explained to my daughter that praise and worship is how we celebrate the Lord. In her wonderful little mind she saw praise and worship as a party for the Lord and from that day on every time she heard her Dad praising & worshipping she would hurry out of bed and join “the party”. The other day one of her friends came by to play and her friend asked if they can do something really fun. So my daughter said okay, she rushed over to our CD player, placed a praise and worship CD in the player and began to dance and worship the Lord.  I couldn’t control the smile on my face. When I looked at her I saw the joy of the Lord all over her face and at that moment she made this scripture come alive for me, “Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them for the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to such as these.”(Luke 18:16 NIV)

Within every child lie trust, dependence, obedience, acceptance, loyalty, faith, expectancy, innocence and they hold no doubts in their heart. These are the qualities that get you into the Kingdom, these are the qualities that adults, myself included, struggle with every day and our children naturally possess them. Unless we receive the Kingdom of God like a little child by no means will we ever enter it ( see Matthew 18:3)

A Prayer For Today

Father God create within us a heart like a child. Tear down the walls that we’ve built over the years in response to “growing up” in this harsh world of ours. Father God free us from the pain and disappointments that keep us from surrendering ourselves to You. Give us the heart and faith of a child so we may enter Your Kingdom and receive more of You. In Jesus name. Amen
