Live Fearless

hands-1926414_1280I no longer live in fear of my sins and mistakes! God says, “I will forgive their iniquity and their sins I will remember no more.” Jer 31:34

I’m no longer haunted by my past, my pain and addictions! “If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation, old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.” 2CO 5:17

I don’t live in fear of death because of Jesus Christ who overcame death!  “O death where is your sting?” 1CO 15:55

I’m not afraid of the dark anymore. I am a child of light and Jesus Christ is that Light. A Light the darkness can’t comprehend. He is the Light of the world!

I can live this life fearless ! Forgetting what is behind me and strain toward what is ahead of me. I can press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus. -Phil 3:13-14

God’s beloved, we can live this life without fear because perfect Love drives out fear. Jesus Christ, the Son of God, Lord and Savior, and Lover of your soul…He Loved You Perfectly! 1John 4:18

As we like to say in our house, Happy Hallelujah-ween!!! 🙂

The Father’s Plan For You

“For I know the plans I have for you, “ declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” –Jeremiah 29:11

God Has a Great Plan For You.

Many of us know this promise well. It’s our personal hope, our life-preserver. The rock we stand on when life throws its worst at us. Every time you hear this promise your confidence quickens because, this is your promise. God is personally talking to you. If you’re anything like me you’ve studied this verse inside and out. You’ve read other translations. You’ve written it on post-its and stuck it on your wall, computer, fridge, mirror…everywhere! Have you noticed that God says the word “plans” three times? For those of you who’ve studied the Hebrew language the number three is said to represent “completeness”.

This promise has often been the topic of many intimate conversations between the Father and I. What are your plans for me? Am I on the right path? This hope and future you speak of Father God, is it in this life or the eternal one?

The other day I read the verse again and was about to close the book when I heard Him say, “Keep reading, that’s only part of the promise.” So I read verse 12-14 and I had what I could only explain as a jaw-dropping moment. We all know Jeremiah 29:11 but how many of us know/remembers the second half of that promise.

Allow me to share:

“Then you will call upon Me and come and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. You will seek Me and find Me when you seek Me with all your heart. I will be found by you,” declares the Lord.”

When I read this I heard Him say:

I have a plan for you, plans that will touch and enrich every area of your life. Whenever you call on Me and pray to Me, says the LORD, know that I’m listening to you. You have my ear and my full attention. One call from you and I’m right there.

How beautiful is that!

It would be a big deal to some if you were to have a direct line to the Governor, the President, a powerful King or Queen of a wealthy nation but you, child of God, you have the ear of the Creator of ALL. God the Father listens to you! He shows up just for you! That’s our hope and future.

The one who listens says; I don’t make a promise that I can’t keep. I will never leave you or forsake you; I will be with you wherever you go. I am with you in the valley, on the mountaintop and everywhere in between. I fight for you. You are my heir and every promise to you is a ‘yes’. My love for you is unwavering, unfailing and it never gives up.

Your future and hope is in Him that is able. The one who loved you so much that He died on the cross just for you. Got questions about your future, the things you wrestle with at night? Just ask; He’ll give you the answers you seek. Whether you’re a Gideon who needs a little more convincing or a Paul who’s ready to go as soon as the scales have been lifted from your eyes. God will meet you right where you are.

He who began the good work He started in you, He will see it to completion. That’s the plans, hope and future we have to look forward to.

Embrace the Season

Ecclesiastes 3 says there is a time and a season for everything and there is a purpose to it all. Your season may be Fall. There are a lot of changes taking place in your life. In Some areas, it’s all falling apart. In others you’re holding strong.

Perhaps you’re in a dry season. You’ve been stripped of everything you’ve worked hard for. Like winter; every area of your life seems bare, it’s going nowhere. Everything seems fruitless and pointless. What makes matters worse is when everyone around you seems to be growing and flourishing and you, you’re standing still. Like someone hit the pause button on your life.

I’ve had seasons where I thought I wouldn’t make it. Some time ago my life had just blew apart. I was on the bathroom floor crying and screaming, Why God? Why?

I heard God say, Wrong question.

I sat up angry and confused and said, What do you mean wrong question, I’m the one doing the asking!

Then He said, It’s not why you should be asking, it’s Who! Who is in control?

That’s a good question, I thought. Who is in control? Just because I’m having the worst day of my life, it doesn’t mean that God stopped being Alpha and Omega of my life. He said He would never leave me or forsake me. As far as I know, never means never. Good or bad day, He’ll never leave my side. He doesn’t take sick days, or pop out for a lunch break. My bad day isn’t the result of God being out on vacation. So as bad as things may be, I’m not in this alone, God is with me and He can get me through this!

God is a Promise Keeper. When I got saved He made a promise to me. He said that He has a plan for me. The situations in my life may change but God’s plans for me will never change. Things may rock me, but they won’t harm me. Things may be rough right now but according to His word I will succeed, I have hope and a great future ahead of me.

I made up my mind that day. Whether it’s the worst day or the best day of my life, I’m going to hold on to God’s promise like my life depends on it. No matter how it looks, I’m going to judge Him who promised faithful and If I struggle with unbelief. He’s going to give me the encouragement I need to overcome my unbelief. I’m not alone in this I can and will lean on Him.

What did God promise you?

Your fall and winters are just seasons, they’re temporary. Some falls and winters are worse than others. Yet we are encouraged by our Father who loves us and sent His beloved Son to die for us to count it All joy!

I have to be honest with you, I don’t enjoy these seasons but I can’t deny that these were the seasons that refined me. Where faith was built up and hope renewed. I learned how to tune into God’s voice in the midst of the lies and accusations of the enemy during these seasons. It drew me closer to God and I saw a Love for me that is beyond words.

There is a purpose to your lack, droughts and afflictions. According to His promise your pain will not be in vain. I’ve come to see the low points in my life as the fertilizer that prepares me for the fruit that’s about to come. The vehicle that carries me into my Spring and Summers. You may not be in that place where you can celebrate in the midst of your trials yet, but you can have rest and peace in them knowing that God is with you and for you.

Whatever season you’re in, I want to encourage you to embrace it. While you’re in it I want you to hold on to something that’s proven and true, He Who Promised Is Faithful! Embrace the Season. 🙂

No More Resolutions part deux

post-itA few years ago I told myself, “no more resolutions!” With every New Year I vowed to do more of this and less of that. You know the list. You start off really strong, by February the momentum tapers off, but its okay, you’ll make it back up next month. March arrives and your resolution is non- existent. You do the walk of resolution shame around your house as you take down all of those colorful post-it notes and pics you stuck up to keep you motivated.

So Instead of resolving to make changes in myself, I asked God to give me a revelation instead. Reveal to me Your will and heart. Teach me more about You Father. Guess what, I saw change, real change in me.

It began with me seeing Christ in the scriptures. I’m not talking about the books where He’s visible or the prophecies that announced Him. I’m not talking about the places where He’s hidden in Symbols, Snapshots and Shadows. I saw Him as Noah’s Ark, an Ark that invited me in and kept me hidden in Him in the midst of the storm.

I saw Jesus in the life of Joseph. Deeply loved by His Father, given a robe that set Him apart, betrayed by His brothers. Falsely accused and imprisoned and then promoted to the right hand of power where He was able to offer salvation to His family and the nations around Him.

I saw Him in Samson who stretched His arms wide in the midst of the enemy and accomplished more in His death than He did in His life. Then I began to see Him in my life. I had favor in areas where I shouldn’t have, confirmations in unlikely places. God would move in my forgotten prayers and unspoken prayers. Whenever I cried and said, Father help me, He’d show up in magnificent and extraordinary ways. He always went above and beyond my prayers.

The more I saw Jesus unveiled in people, symbols and shadows throughout the bible,  the more I saw the extent of His Love and the great lengths He went through just to save me. For God so loved me He gave His only beloved Son. God did all of this just for me. Seeing His Love in action transformed my heart and mind. I found myself in Him. Not broken and defeated but a conqueror made whole. Through this unveiling God taught me what it means to be an image bearer of Christ because that is who we are. The word says as Christ is so are we on this earth therefore if the Spirit of God was upon Him to proclaim liberty and set the captive free then that same Spirit is upon us and we’re called to do the very same thing.

We can take up His cross  and adopt His life because we know the end; we’ve seen the victory. This is how I view it, if trials are my prison, then I know the palace is my outcome. If death can produce more than life, then I can die to myself daily. I can put whatever is going on with me aside for a moment to tell that one God placed before me all about my Jesus and save a life. I’m in the ark of Christ, I’m safe, sound and heaven bound, even on those days  I’m not feeling it. No matter what comes our way, all things will work out for our good. We will be victorious like Christ because we are seated with Him and He sits victoriously on the right hand of the Father.

No more resolutions, let Christ be the change, let Him be revealed in you. Let your life be a snapshot of Him. With this knowledge comes a lasting transformation and a confidence about who you are and where you’re headed. Old to New. Pit to Palace. Death to Life Lived More Abundantly.

Happy New Year God’s Beloved!

Completely Forgiven

christmas gift

I was bible study hopping a few years back. My husband and I arrived a little late so we thought it best to sit in the back of the class. As I was settling in I heard someone ask, “I know I’m forgiven, but I still have to pay the consequences of my sins and mistakes right?” It took everything in me to contain my excitement. I had to fight the urge to raise my hand and ask the pastor if I can answer that question and set my fellow believer free. I was new to this group so I kept my cool.

The teacher answered, “Yes, we still have to pay the consequences of our sins and mistakes.” My heart sank. I wanted to say something but I couldn’t. How do you correct a Pastor in front of his flock? How I wish I had that spirit of boldness as seen in the apostle Paul when he corrected Peter. Every part of me wanted to ask, if forgiveness is a gift, why do I have to pay for it? I tell you the truth not speaking up that day still haunts me. I wonder how many more Believers are out there living with this same thought. Saved but bound.

If I could turn back the hands of time, I’d ask if I could answer that question and I’d boldly say, there is No Condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus! If I’m not completely forgiven then why would God say in His covenant promise that my sins and lawless acts, He will remember no more! When God made this oath there was no one greater to swear by so He swore unto Himself.  This isn’t some human contract, this is a covenant, made by God and fulfilled by the blood of His Son. It’s unbreakable, irrevocable, its Truth, a truth we can stand and hold onto.

Is Sin greater than the Cross? If one man’s disobedience (Adam) can bring sin and death to us all then why can’t one Man’s righteous act (Jesus) bring complete forgiveness to all who believe.

How Saved Am I?

To say that we don’t have complete forgiveness is to say that Christ’s birth, death and resurrection was flawed. There is no flaw in God. There are no tricks up His sleeve or “fine print” in His promise. That would make Him cruel like the men of this world. There is no lie in Him nor does He make promises He can’t keep. He is a God of Love.

Jesus Himself said He came to set the captives free. What is freedom if you’re still living in fear? Jesus was beaten so we can be victorious, bruised so we can be healed, broken so we can be whole. I have yet to come across a translation that says He was wounded for some of our transgressions. Why would He endure the cross for part of our punishment and some of our sins? Christ became our sin, All of our sins so that we can become the Righteousness of God in Christ. Sons and daughters of God, God doesn’t sweep away the Righteous with the Wicked.

My friends in Christ,  Jesus’ work on the cross was flawless and He demonstrated His Love for us perfectly. That Love casted out any fear of death and judgment we had. We are in Christ and in Christ we are Saved and Completely Forgiven.

Confidence in Christ

The Holy Spirit enlightened me recently in such a way that it’s giving me hope during one of the darkest hours of my life. You may know the story well but I want to encourage you to take a moment to hear what Christ is saying to you today.

In the book of Mark Jesus said to His disciples, “Let us go over to the other side.” So they boarded the vessel with Jesus. Some time later a vicious storm broke out over the boat. Imagine the disciples fright as the wind and waves violently tossed them about. The boat swamped with water. The thunder claps, the lightning strikes, skies so dark and cloudy you could barely see what’s in front of you.

There in the midst of it all laid Jesus, fast asleep on a cushion at the rear of the boat. They must have wondered how can anyone sleep through all of this? Fearing for their lives the disciples woke Him and said, “Teacher don’t you care if we drown?” Jesus got up and stilled the storm. Then He said to His disciples, “Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?” (See full story Mark 4:35-41)

In all of my studies of this story the focus has always been on Jesus quieting the storm but that’s not the significant part of this story. In my recent study I heard the Holy Spirit say, “Did He not say they were going to the other side?”

Getting Through the Storm

The book of Hebrews defines faith as, “Confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.” Hebrews 11:1 NIV.

Jesus breaks this down even further for us. He says Have faith in God; our faith in Him can move a mountain. Note that Jesus is calling us not to have faith in ourselves but Confidence in Him who can do all things. It’s Him not you moving the mountain.

Faith is Confidence in Jesus Christ being who He says He is. Confidence in Him being the Alpha and Omega of your life. That nothing in this life is beyond His knowledge, ability and reach. Confidence in Him being the promise keeper. That every word He uttered to you will be fulfilled. That He does have a plan for you one that will take you to great heights and depths in Him. A life filled with meaning and purpose. That He heard every prayer and every cry and because you are His, ALL THINGS will work out for your good. Including the things that don’t make sense to you.

Confidence in His willingness to heal you and your loved ones, grant you your heart’s desire and set you free from the things that have kept you bound. That He will protect and defend you. Still the storm, tear down walls and break chains on your behalf. Confidence in His unfailing, unconditional and unshakeable love for you. A Love that cannot lie. A love so perfect and pure that He laid His life down and shed His blood so that you may live this life and the next victorious.

I believe the Father wants to take us to a place in Him where our confidence in His love for us is so great that when trouble arises, we don’t respond in fear and doubt but in Faith. A centurion type of faith that says, Jesus, just say the word and I know it will be done!

A faith that doesn’t wake Him in the midst of a storm but grabs a pillow and rest with Him. A confidence in Christ that is not shaken when things are falling apart or moved by the fire blazing around. A faith that holds on to Him who is with you and for you and can see you through the storm. You hold on because you trust what His word says about you. Your boat may rock, it may sustain some damage but you know that He who promised is faithful and You Will make it to the other side!

Follow the Promise

What promises did He make to you? I encourage you not to give up on His promise; don’t give in to the doubt. He is faithful, willing and His word is tested and true. Jesus cannot fail you. It may feel like you’re all alone but you’re not – Christ is with you. The gifts and call of God are irrevocable. Things may look dark for you right now. It may seem like you’re not going to make it, but Jesus Christ, God’s Love made perfect, says You Are going to the other side! 🙂

The Doubt Battle

The Doubt Battle

A man brings his son who has been possessed by a spirit to Jesus, the man says,

“If you can do anything, take pity on us and help us.”

“ ‘If you can’?” said Jesus. “Everything is possible for one who believes.”

Immediately the boy’s father exclaimed, “I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief!” Mark 9: 14-24

Another word for unbelief is doubt and according to the Oxford English Dictionary doubt is defined, “as the uncertainty as to the truth or reality of something, and inclination to disbelieve.”  According to the word of God, “God has dealt to each one a measure of faith.” (Romans 12:3). Oftentimes when our minds are plagued with doubts, fears and unbelief we question our faith, when in fact it is because we have faith that we battle with doubts, fear, and unbelief.

The word of God says that, “God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” (2 Tim 1:7). This means that fear, doubt and unbelief are weapons of the enemy; weapons designed to attack and weaken the faith that God has placed inside of us. “There is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.” (Romans:8:1) If you are dealing with doubt don’t beat yourself up about it, don’t get down on yourself, don’t condemn yourself, God has already set you free. We can overcome our doubts and unbelief with the victorious word of God. God, who is the author and finisher of our faith, says, “Greater is He that is in you, than he that is in the world.” (1John 4:4)

When fear and doubt arise inside of you focus not on what you feel or think but on what God says about you and He says you are more than a conqueror Romans 8:37.

A Sister’s Faith

It was the winter of 1977 I was about 2 ½ years old when my dad was rushed to the emergency room because he was having trouble breathing. The doctor’s said that he had some form of pneumonia but they couldn’t figure out what type of pneumonia he had and on top of that his lungs were filling up with fluid. His blood oxygen levels were extremely low so low that he should have been unconscious but by grace he was still with us. My father’s condition was something this doctor had never seen before so he quickly got on the phone and spoke with doctor’s and specialist throughout the nation and in Europe and not a single one could figure out what strain of pneumonia he had or how to properly treat him. Around 2 am that morning the doctor pulled my mom aside and told her that my father will not make it through the night and that now was the time to notify his next of kin. She called my dad’s sister, my Aunt Sadie in Florida, it was around 6 am her time. When my mother told my aunt what was going on, my aunt boldly declared, “My brother will not die!” When my aunt hung up she got back on the phone and left a message for the school she worked for to let them know that she would not be in that day. She then fell on her knees and cried out to God and entered in to a
holy fast and prayer for her brother. She made a vow to God that she would not move until He moved in her brother’s life. Around 10:30 am (Florida time) my aunt’s phone rings and she’s led to answer it, it was my mom who told her that my dad made a spontaneous recovery, these were the doctor’s exact words. It was a miracle according to them but I know it was the victorious hand of God and His response to “a sister’s faith”.

The Doctor’s still don’t know what exactly happened to my father or how he recovered but I believe that my dad’s story is like the story of the man who had been born blind that Jesus healed. The disciples asked Jesus, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?” And Jesus answered, “Neither this man nor his parents sinned, but that the works of God should be revealed in him.” (John 9:1-3 NKJV) My dad became deathly ill not because of sin but so the mighty works of God and the power of intercessory prayer can be revealed in him.

Trust God’s Timing

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your path.” Proverbs 3:5-6

As one season ends and another begins I am reminded that every moment has an appointed time. Though we may not understand every challenge that comes our way, God has shown us that every situation in life has a divine purpose and for every activity under heaven there is a season.

“There is a time to be born and a time to die,

A time to plant and a time to uproot,

A time to kill and a time to heal,

A time to tear down and a time to build,

A time to weep and a time to laugh,

A time to mourn and a time to dance,

A time to scatter stones and a time to gather them,

A time to embrace and a time to refrain,

A time to search and a time to give up,

A time to keep and a time to throw away,

A time to tear and a time to mend,

A time to be silent and a time to speak,

A time to love and a time to hate,

A time for war and a time for peace.”

(Ecclesiastes 3:1-8)

Put your trust in God, the creator of time, for He knows the ending before it even begins. Embrace every season, every challenge and every moment in your life and take comfort in knowing that He is in control and that His timing and His works are truly perfect.

The Power of Prayer

The word of God says, “whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If ye shall ask any thing in my name I will do it.” (John 14: 13-14.)

According to God’s word we have the power to move mountains if we pray to Him. God has given us the authority to call on Him to intervene on our behalf. Too often we take it upon ourselves to try to fix the people and problems in our life and we wonder why all of our efforts show no result. It is by God’s might not yours that your problem will be truly solved and your burden lifted. All you have to do is ask.

Don’t exhaust yourself by carrying these burdens alone for God is here and waiting for you to cast all of your cares on Him. When you pray to Him, know that He can make a way where there is none, that the impossible is very possible for God. The challenges you face may seem big but our God is bigger. Connect with God, pray to Him, place it all in His capable hands today.

I pray in Jesus name that you use the power of your prayers to move the mountains in your life today. Surrender it all to our Heavenly Father today and release Him to have His Way in your life today, in Jesus name.
