When a child is born you can’t help but to plan and dream about the life they’re going to have. That first smile and first step. That first word that will soon lead to conversations. You imagine the adventures your child will have, the people they will meet, the new experiences they will have. You brace yourself for when they stumble and fall and you celebrate when they overcome and triumph. You picture them falling in love and saying I do. You even go as far as imagining what their kids will be like and how they would function as a parent. Not for one moment do you ever think about how that child would die.
God did, that was His thought when He sent His Son into the world. God’s thoughts were not just on the life His Son would live but on His death. For through His Son’s death, He will have the joy of seeing you live.
Born to Die
Jesus Christ the Son of God was born to die. There was no doubt that He loved His Son. God boldly declared it when Jesus was baptized, “And a voice from Heaven said, ‘This is My Son, whom I love, with Him I am well pleased’.”-Matt 3:17
Jesus was very aware of the Love that His Father had for Him, it is evident in His prayer to the Father, “Father I want those you have given me to be with me where I am, and to see my glory, the glory You have given me because You Loved Me before the creation of the world.” –John 17:24
He Died for Love
A child was born and given with one thought in mind, that His death would give you the gift of life. This gift was freely given, it was unearned and unmerited.
You see at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous person, though for a good person someone might possibly dare to die. But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Rom 5:6-8
He was delivered over to death for our sins and was raised to life for our justification. Oh death where is your victory? Where is your sting? Rom 4:25 1 Cor 15:54-55
This gift of eternal and unfailing love, perfectly wrapped in the birth and death of a beloved Son, is for anyone who believes in this everlasting Love. The true Christmas Gift, the Gift of all gifts . Neither height or depth, nor anything else in all creation can separate us from the Love of God. Rom 8:39
A Christmas Prayer for You
That you would grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ (for you), and to know this Love that surpasses knowledge-that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God. For God so loved you that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. Today, if you hear His voice, do not harden your hearts. Eph 3:18-19, John 3:16, Heb 3:7
