A Faith That Pleases God

“Without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who come to Him must believe that He exists and the He rewards those who earnestly seek Him.” (Hebrews 11:6) NIV

“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” (Hebrews 11:1)

Abraham Faith

God made Abraham a promise, that Sarah, who was past childbearing age, would give birth to his child and that Abraham will be a “father of nations.” The word of God says, “Without weakening in his faith, he faced the fact that his body was as good as dead-since he was about a hundred years old and that Sarah’s womb was also dead. Ye he did not waver through unbelief regarding the promise of God, but was strengthened in his faith and gave glory to God being fully persuaded that God had power to do what he had promised.” (Romans 4:19-21)

Issue of Blood Faith

While Jesus was on His way to the house of Jairus, one of the synagogue leaders, the word of God says, “A woman was there who had been subject to bleeding for twelve years…she thought, “If I just touch his clothes, I will be healed.” Immediately her bleeding stopped and she felt in her body that she was freed from her suffering.”  When Jesus realized that power had gone out from Him, He asked who touched Him and when He spoke with the woman who had touched Him He said to her, “Daughter your faith has healed you. Go in peace and be freed from you suffering.” (Mark 5: 25-34)

The Centurion Faith

While Jesus was in Capernaum a centurion came to Him on behalf of his ill servant. Jesus asked the centurion, “Shall I come and heal him?” The Centurion replied, “Lord I do not deserve to have you come under my roof. But just say the word, and my servant will be healed.”

The word of God says, “When Jesus heard this, he was amazed and said to those following Him, ‘Truly I tell you, I have not found anyone in Israel with such great faith.” To the centurion He said, “Go! Let it be done just as you believed it would.” The servant was healed at that moment.  (Matthew 8: 5-13)

The common thread these three people share is their belief in the power of God. Believe and hold on to God’s promise despite what things look like or what you may lack. Believe and be willing to press forward no matter how long it’s been. Believe that God’s word is greater than any obstacle; greater than any problem in your life. Believe that God is able to do exceedingly and abundantly above all things in your life. That is the type of faith God is looking for, a faith that trusts Him to do what He said He will do.

“When the Son of Man comes, will He find faith on the earth?” (Luke 18:8 NIV) Will He find faith?
