The Divine Purpose of Adversity

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11

In the midst of our trials and our suffering some of us tend to ask the question, “Why?” when instead we should be asking “Who?” Who is in control? God is; God is in control of all things and all adversity. Who is God to you? God is your Father and your source and according to His word He is the supplier of all of your needs. (Philippians 4:19) God’s power and love for you is infinite and yes, He does have the power to take you out of adversity but instead He chooses to bring you through it so that He may strengthen you. It is through the testing of our faith that our strengths and our weaknesses are revealed and it is through adversity that God sets us up for greatness as a testament to His grace and His power. This is the divine purpose of adversity. Adversity truly does shape and transform us into new creatures and if you are a true believer, know that because of His faithfulness you will find yourself victorious and better off than before.

Remember this, suffering is temporary, God, your Heavenly Father is everlasting. God is the King of Kings; He is “King of the mountain top” and “King of the Valley” too. My prayer is that you recognize God in the midst of your trouble and remember that He is the one in control. Embrace these times and take comfort in knowing that adversity is the key to the fulfillment of God’s ultimate plan for your life. You are one of God’s diamonds, you are His child. In Jesus name we give God thanks, Amen.
