The Breath of God

When God created the Heavens, the Earth and the Cosmos, He created it simply by talking, “The earth was without form and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the water. Then God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light.” Genesis 1:3. To give you a mental picture of just how awesome and powerful our God is; I recently read that scientist estimate that there are approximately 100 billion galaxies in the observable universe. We can only imagine the number of galaxies that are beyond our view.

Now God created all of these fascinating and complex things simply by talking but when God created Man He did something different, He breathed. Now God could of spoke Man into creation just as He did with everything else but He chose to give Man a part of Himself by breathing His essence, His love, His power into Man. The Creator of the Heavens, the Earth and over a trillion galaxies placed His power inside of you. The Creator who parted the Red Sea, rained manna from Heaven, made the blind see, the cripple walk, the deaf hear and raised the dead after they’ve been buried four days, this Creator along with His power and authority is inside of you. With every breath we take we should marvel and rejoice about the power and love that is inside of us, the gift of life that is inside of us, and the breath of God that lives in us. “And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being.” (Genesis 2:7)

Dear God, Breathing is something that comes so natural to us that we tend to take it for granted, so God we thank you today for Your breath of life, we thank You for placing an intimate part of Yourself inside of us, we thank You for placing your unlimited power and authority inside of us. Your breath truly does measure how deep Your love is for us and we thank You God for your love, your power and the gift of Your breath.
